Oska Health raises €2.5M to launch and expand digital-enabled health coaching for Chronic Kidney Disease patients

FRANKFURT, Mar. 6, 2023 -- Oska Health GmbH, a technology-driven healthcare company, is proud to announce the successful closing of its pre-seed funding round, raising over 2.5 million EUR.

Oska Health focuses on improving care for Chronic Kidney Disease, a major contributor to the growing chronic disease epidemic: 9 million people in Germany and 700 million people worldwide are living with Chronic Kidney Disease.

Oska Health offers evidence-based remote health coaching for people with chronic kidney disease, facilitated by their proprietary health platform. The goal: Supporting patients, easing the workload of physicians, and reducing costs for healthcare payers.

“The integration of health data, behavioural science, and machine learning, will allow Oska Health to continuously optimize the effectiveness of the therapy by creating personalized and adaptable treatment plans.” Niklas Best, CEO Oska Health.

The funding round was led by LBBW VC, with co-investors HessenKapital and Calm/Storm, as well as a group of seasoned business angels from the healthcare industry. “We are delighted to support Oska’s experienced team and improve the lives of those with chronic kidney disease and their families. As a venture capital firm, we are especially proud to fund such a meaningful business model.” Andreas von Richter, Managing Director LBBW VC. The funds will be used to further develop the product and expand Oska's commercial activities.

The three co-founders of Oska Health, Niklas Best (CEO), Claudia Ehmke (CPO), Malte Waldeck (CFO/COO) have extensive experience in the kidney industry and understand the challenges faced by individuals with chronic kidney disease. “We want to make healthcare feel more like ‘you can’, instead of ‘you can’t’ or ‘you mustn’t’. For this, kidney patients need support outside the doctor's office. This is where Oska Health helps.” Says Claudia Ehmke, Chief Product Officer Oska Health.

The company is excited to continue working towards its mission of improving the lives of those living with chronic kidney disease.
